Film, Year 2

(5)·By Charlotte F·Film· Jul 2021
Freshers was both brilliant and terrible, I didn't go to all the events planned but they were supposedly rubbish. Meeting everyone in the first year was amazing though and these are the people I've stuck with throughout uni I stayed in Packsaddle hill, a very modern accommodation, brilliantly spacious and even the small rooms were still sweet. There weren't really any problems, some flooding problems with the showers and the fact you had to walk 5 mins if you locked yourself out, but it was definitely the best of all the accommodations In my first year, around deadline time I'd spend all my time in the library for getting on with work. The memberships for sports facilities is also far too expensive but all Falmouths facilities are brilliant Well in first year, we had weekly screenings and theory about said films, which was brilliant, we also made films in groups. Second year was wildly different for me as I decided to take screenwriting, this and the pandemic led to me not going on campus at all, which was difficult both for learning and for mental health reasons (having essentially no reason to leave my house or even my bed made if difficult) Well Falmouth is hardly a city, it's a little smaller than my home town but this doesn't make it any less exciting. There's nightlife (usually), plenty places to go and lovely quirky shops

Other, Year 1

I have experienced so much whilst studying my course which is Marine and Natural History Photography. Not only have I had interesting lessons in the natural world but I've also been to on site locations with my course mates. Making friends and going out at night is completely different to the nightlife in London, it's a much more chill, slow paced environment

It was very fun and the uni made an effort to provide activities for students to get to know everyone It was very clean modern and I made good friends Facilities were useful and resourceful and I regularly use the library The lectures are very engaging and informative and the tutors are helpful I love London and is perfect for the course I study as a lot of primary research involves the city

Journalism, Graduate

(5)·By Will C·Journalism· Jul 2021
Full of SU events which were always pretty hard to get tickets for due to high popularity. Was a great way to meet new people outside of your flat. Glasney View was situated right on campus with a five minute walk to lectures. Was a hub of flat parties and everything was so closely linked you could with with a mate within seconds. Library is open 24/7 so is super handy for doing late night essay writing with a huge resource for reading/referencing material. There is also a gym which is great for first years not wanting to venture out of campus. The lecturers and the course itself was super insightful and covered every single area of Journalism. Exploring and experimenting with different elements enabled us to search for a job in the field we succeeded in most. The support from lecturers is incredible. Falmouth is a quiet town, ran mostly by students. There is a weird territorial thing with locals vs students but for the most part everyone is very accommodating.

It was fun. There was lots of activities to do and all of the other students were great There are some great ans some not so great acomidations at Falmouth. I was in the worst. However it was still comfortable for the year I spent there The facilities here are world class the studios in particular are incredible. I also love that I can take out photography equipment whenever I want. The course I do is structured to give us the most creative freedom posible to make sure that our voices are heard. But it has enough structure to keep you on track We don't have a city per say down here but with Truro close and fairly decent transport links it doesn't feel isolated

Art / Design, Year 2

The events that were put on were okay, I only attended two that sounded the most interesting. Even then I preferred to go out to the town with my friends. I could not fault my accommodation it was brand new and very classy looking. Security was top notch as we used specific key cards and I always felt safe and had fun. The facilities at my uni are amazing, the library is the most useful as it is open for long hours all year round. As well as my studio as there is always easy access to the machinery. Lectures are always detailed and to the point. I feel in my course I can follow my own thought process and produce work that is true to myself and my aesthetic. Since Falmouth is a small town I was worried about the city life being too quiet, however I have grown to love the peace and quiet as I can focus on my work and be in a fun and safe environment with my friends.

Super cool, great parties I didn t live in accommodation but from the people I know that do that, it is great and super fancy Top facilities, love everything about them Teachers are super funny and cool but also high in the industry, also lectures are recorded and we can rewatch them everytime THe city is amazing because of the environment, the sea and all that but the night life is almost zero

English Studies, Year 2

(4.8)·By Megan O·English Studies· Jul 2021
Bonkers fun. Absolutely chaotic, highly confusing and at time anxiety-inducing but largely a good time. Clean and modern in my experience, and v good value for money. I had a studio flat which had a balcony and it was great. The halls next door to ours looked like a hotel and had a gym and cinema room. We were quite jealous but we were allowed to use it until rona. Very modern. Quite beautiful actually. One of the main buildings has glass ceilings and trees in it. Also there are facilities for everything you'd care to imagine. There's also a very hogwarts-esque reading room for the writing students with old velvet armchairs. It's great. Courses are very relaxed and allow you a lot of freedom to interpret assessment briefs however you like and therefore to pursue your own interests when it comes to essays and creative briefs. Also we have very diverse reading lists featuring plenty of women, people of colour, and so on. Falmouth is very aware of the zeitgeist and supports very contemporary learning. Falmouth being a seaside town rather than a city makes the uni experience inevitably quite different, but that doesn't mean there is nothing to do- quite the opposite. It is a very bohemian and creative place and there are always events on in the town and at the uni. It's also a very beautiful place to be. It's never boring. It's a treasure chest. Very quirky.

10/10 for a small university town, they put on tons of events, open activities and freshers fairs to get us all settled in and meet new people. Clean, practical and a 10 minute bus trip from campus, what else could you need. Facilities were brilliant with an on campus gym, 24 hour library services, and brilliant studios. One of the only courses I know of that give you a permanent desk all year round to have a safe creative space to work and store your belongings. Really engaging and supportive. They gave you first hand knowledge of industry standard practises and insights, tips and information of relevant things for after our studies were over. City, more like small seaside town! Despite being a small town it's filled with really nice pubs, quaint shops and is surrounded by lots of coastal walks. As well as being on the beach front it offers you the chance to lean new water sport activities like surfing, paddle boarding and sea swimming.

It was good because I had good flatmates. I think if I didn't though the actual event would have been bad It's good to be fair, there's lots to choose from and mine was okay in price. Facilities are good as there are a lot to choose from They are informative. I have one every day so I learn a lot. My uni isn't in a city so I couldn't tell you. It's good by the beach tho.

really amazing in my first year! could have done more events but the events they did put on were brilliant The student village is a bit of a maze but the actual accommodation was really clean when I moved in. Limited cupboard and fridge space considering there could be up to 10 people living there (we only had 8 and found it limited) and the kitchen was small in comparison to other unis, but it was still perfectly suitable for first year and easy to clean after flat parties Library is great, lots of opportunities for different types of workers with silent spaces or group spaces. Sports was equally good but there could have been improvements e.g more outdoor spaces, but still a nice place. Classrooms always very clean and tidy, lots of them too so usually always one a available to work in. Student union could be a bit bigger but they are expanding it now i believe Course was engaging and interesting, lectures made you think more broadly about the topics and the world. Did find some lectures boring as I always knew the information from A Levels but can imagine they are useful for those who havent studied photography before Can't compare to city life as it's a small seaside town so limited on its clubs etc. Coming from a small seaside town with only 1 club it didn't make much difference for me and was really nice to have everything on one road but the clubs can get full so prepare to make your own fun or go out early in the evening
