Art & Design, Year 1

Fantastic, I very much enjoyed it, felt so welcome and was very happy with how everything went. I wish I could just go back and do it all over again

It is very easy to navigate around but can be a tad expensive. The room is nice and I am very happy to be living in it but could get more for my buck. So overall it is a good experience for me

Facilities are great, there is a great abundance of them and the student union is fantastic for meeting new people on a day to day basis. I am very pleased with the facilities at the Glasgow school of art. Couldn't complain

I feel information was transmitted very very well at lectures and I enjoy going to them very much. It is an enjoyable way to learn which I feel makes it much easier to process information that is given to me. Great lectures

City life is great, there is a great amount of sightseeing to be done And there are many many many bars and activities to be done all over town. I like the people also, they are very very friendly. This helps me settle into life here very easily

Although fun and interesting to do I must say to anyone that is wanting to take this course that it is extremely demanding and is not to be taken lightly, you do have to work very very hard in order to achieve greatness in the subject. So overall I would it is a great experience but make sure to approach it with caution as you do not want to fall behind

It was amazing. The Art School which is the student union was so cool and so nearby the accommodation. Unfortunately it is no longer open. Fine! There are two options, I stayed in the cheaper version. I really liked my room and the kitchen. Would recommend. Library was cute! Classrooms/art studio spaces were ok. I studied communication design and wish there was more space as all we had was a small desk, felt like it limited the scale of work I could create. Would have been nice to each have some wall space. Great knowledgeable, friendly tutors. Nice learning environment. Mixture between female and male lecturers. Guest lecturers were great! I love Glasgow so much. Now one of my favourite places on earth. I lived in London all my life and Glasgow was a beautiful place to move to. Easily visit the beautiful mountains and locks. The people are so sweet and friendly.

Unfortunately a lot of events got cancelled because of the Mackintosh fire but Glasgow in general is a fun night out Really nice student accommodation options (higher or lower budget) really good location to the uni Library and studio spaces are really accessible and easy to use Very casual dynamic between students and teachers and a nice comfortable studio environment Glasgow is so good for students! Lots of stuff to do and places to visit.

The people have been very welcoming and the city is a lively place to live. It is ideal for studying art as there is constant events to attend. The course itself has a lot of freedom and self directed study which I find best for the subject. The VLE is easy to navigate and the library has a good amount of resources.

Nice but not as many events Nice and new rooms, with all the necessary furnitures Classrooms too small sometimes for the number of students but everything else is pretty good All the teachers are really prepared and really care about the students I didn't like it a lot

What I love the most about being at GSA is the way you can express yourself through your work and seeing how tutors and teachers appreciate and understand that. You have the chance to experiment in a structured way and learn so much in the process. My experience with tutors and Stage leaders has been amazing. They are incredibly inspiring and they teach you so much about the subject, but also about yourself. Social life is amazing, the atmosphere feels always free of judgement and creative.

Architecture, Year 2

For me Freshers week was a lot of fun, there was loads of different activities. I definitely made the most of it and made lots of new friends. Although it could have been better as our student union got shut down. I didn't stay there. I was at Private student accommodation, but I heard it was a very sociable place to stay and everyone got on well with their flat mates. My friend from uni stayed there and she said it was a very clean accommodation compared to others. We don't have any sport areas, the library is very small and usually don't have the books I'm looking for available. Our lecture theatres are also very stuffy and warm not a lot of ventilation. We have very Bright and airy studio spaces Our lecturers always go into a lot of depth and make the lectures very interesting to listen to. I love my course because it's so varied and I've never done anything like it before. Glasgow is 100% one of the best cities I've stayed in. Night life is amazing, loads of great places to eat and so many things to do and see. A very cultured city. I lived 5mins from the city centre so I had everything at my door step. Subway was also very easy to use and I could get to places very fast.

There was a freshers fair to sign up for different societies etc. Nummerous activities to meet new people as well as dj sets at The Art School music venue. Accomodation is fair especially at the newly built Blythswood house. Only some of the activity spaces are not in good condition. Library is good as well as spaces in the new Reid building are fine though a bit small. However, classes and auditoriums at the architecture building are in great need of retrofitting. Also there are absolutely no sports facilities and we can't use Glasgow University's ones for a discounted price. The lecturers are very passionate and engaging and the stufy materials are very informative and useful. The courses are integrated within each other making them much more comprehensable. Glasgow is great - affordable, great people, lots to do on your free time.

Art & Design, Year 1

It was fine I didn’t really do a lot as I didn’t know what there was to do and I only went out twice but that is more because I hadn’t made many friends as I wasn’t really getting on with my flat mates.

My first accommodation was fine i liked the bed room but i was next to stairs so it was noisy at night. My flat mates made living there very hard as the kitchen was never clean as they didn’t clean and they smoked in the building, so I moved to another building and I love it. I have a double bed and an en-suite which I really like.

The library is good there is a good selection of books and the computers are of a high quality. Class rooms are large studio spaces so become very moose and distracting so it is hard to consentrate it is also very cold a lot of the time so just makes it uncomfortable to sit in. There isn’t any sports facilities apart from Glasgow uni and we can’t fully join a team as we don’t go to Glasgow uni so that makes doing sport hard

The lectures are really nice and approachable they also have backgrounds in the different areas of design so it helps to see what they have done and see there journey. I really enjoyed the materials lectures we had as it helped my design knowledge for the course.

I don’t really go out a lot but when I have been out it has been really good there is a lot of variety with where you can go and they are on the most part really good and not too expensive. There are lots of special themed nights so means there is always something to do which is really good.

I would say it is a lot different for high school as most of the work you have to do is self directed which means you have to be very self motivated. You also have to deal with a lot of criticism as your designs will get criticised through your process but if you back up all of your decisions and show passion for your design then they will see that you have thought the design through. The DHT course doesn’t apply to product design at all I feel the lectures are hard to get through because I have no interest but some of the lectures are interesting.

Incredible- amazing nights out and a wide range of societies Margaret Macdonald house was a good choice i think. Easy to make friends and it always seemed like there was lots to do. cheap rent as well The student union was incredible, until they closed it. Thats probably my biggest problem with GSA- how they handled that situation. However the reid building is fantastic. Lectures for art subjects are much better than design ones. Design subjects get a better building and better space. Tutors care but are stretched thin. The best part about the city is the nightlife! A wonderful range of buildings and activities.
