My university story: so far

(5)·By Aidan K·Sports Science· Jun 2026
At the beginning of my time at John Moores, I was nervous walking in on my first day, but I instantly connected with people who I still get on with today. With regards to the course itself, it can be hard to have the desire to attend lectures, believe me. However, as time went on, I decided to knuckle down and try my hardest to ensure that I get the most out of my degree. To anyone who sees this, I highly recommend university, as not only do you give yourself a better opportunity at the career you want, but you will also make memories to last a lifetime.

I personally took creative writing at Liverpool John Moores. My experience has been great, as I've met new people and had classes that have helped to improve my writing.

Nursing at John Moores

(5)·By Santhiya T·Nursing· Jun 2026
I was always hesitant about completing mental health nursing, especially with the lack of jobs in the NHS. However, my university has allowed me to explore various opportunities through events and programmes, which makes me certain that I picked the right course.

Great course

(5)·By Jennifer A·Tourism / Transport / Travel· Jun 2026
Being an undergraduate student is not lonely because I have a friend with me at all times. My course enables me to learn various typologies relating to the travel and tourism industry and marketing. I live close to the city centre, so it is very easy to get around; everything is nearby, and I do not rely on public transportation as Liverpool is a walkable city. It is a perfect destination to study my course. My accommodation is really lovely, and I have booked the same place for next year. I attend church services and student services on Wednesdays, and I interact with many people from church and university. I like it here.

My university gives endless support and is very organized with teaching and the curriculum, so I always know what I need to be doing and how far along I am in the pharmacy course. The lecturers are also very friendly. We each have a personal tutor who meets with us at least twice a week to sit down and chat about how we’re doing. This is incredible, as it means you can get one-on-one tailored support. All the lecturers are organized on Canvas, so you can plan your own personal learning.

They just held a refreshers fair in January with many cool activities, such as an Everton stadium tour. It was a great way to meet new people and socialise. John Moores also encourages proactive communication with staff, which helps us build a very good relationship with our lecturers.

Student life is so fun, with so many things to do that don’t include drinking. St. Luke’s accommodation is very exciting; I met my best friend there.

John Moores

(5)·By Sonny H·Business· Jun 2026
Student life at LJMU is amazing; there are so many societies to choose from, and everyone is really nice. My course, on the other hand, is alright—the support is definitely there, but I’m losing interest in what I picked. If I were to recommend accommodation for first years, it would definitely be Horizon Heights, as there’s always something happening there.
