Media Studies, Year 2

(5)·By Jess B·Media Studies· Mar 2019
It was really good and such a good way to meet new people

It’s better than I expected. I really enjoy spending time there and it feels like an ice little home and makes me feel less worried about being far from family and friends. It’s good that you can personalise the area how you like.

The facilities are good. The classrooms aren’t perfectly suited with good computers for media work making it easier to complete work. The library is open often and has access to a large range of books and computers.

The course always has new things that are intriguing and encourage you to do your work. I am always finding myself doing new things and learning different techniques and software.

It’s good. I like spending time in the city with friends that I’ve made here and I always find myself making more and more friends every time I go out. There are a lot of shops and everything I need to buy is not far away.

I think they should know that it’s ok to take the leap and do what you want. Sometimes university can seem like the scary option especiallt when you don’t know anyone but it’s such a good way to learn new things and make friends too.

Shocking

(1)·By G D·Animal Science· Oct 2024
Absolutely terrible experience. I joined in 2023, My course got cut half way through, during the time the course was on the teacher hardly turned up to teach us and when she did was always at least 10-15 minutes late. She never explained anything to us, would just hand us work sheets and tell us to get on with it. The next year I applied I was told I was only aloud to do health and social care and wouldn’t let me do the course I wanted too, no explanation why. I did the first 2 weeks with no days off then I had an accident which put me on crutches. I explained the situation to the college and the fact I couldn’t come in and they decided to kick me out due to bad attendance! And too add to the matter throughout the year and a bit I was there they ignored my needs and denied that they had been informed about my Autism and ADHD which we most definitely informed them about!

Discriminated Against

(1)·By Kalten W·Psychology· Mar 2024
I was in a counselling level 2 course. The tutor knew of my autism and personality disorder from day 1. I had to get a letter from mental health services to prove I was fit. I started course and each week the class was set weekly assignments. At any point I was never assisted or asked if I was understanding the subject. The tutor did not mark my homework assignments for several weeks of the ten week course, only to mark it on go and drop it all on me at once. As a result I had a meltdown and left the course. The tutor has no understanding of autism clearly and this is the second course at Macclesfield college I had to drop out of due to not understanding foreign tutors and not being supported. Due to being in my 30s they assumed I didn't need help which makes me think I wasn't just discrimated against for having a disability but discriminated by my age too and the fact I was the only male in class. I feel like I was discriminated Against from day 1 of both courses. I wasted time (homework) and money (for travel to Macclesfield) getting there. The college needs investigating and the tutors need sacking. I will be reporting my experience to OFFSTED.

MACCLESFIELD COLLEGE 0/10!

(1)·By Mr J·Building / Construction· Jun 2023
I have done one year at this collage, all I can say is if you're interested in a toxi and negative atmosphere this is the place for you. If you're son/daughter is an over achiever they will soon become a under achieve. This collage has had to magically dispose of multiple members of staff due to being found out for fradulet activity. The current administration and leadership teams clearly are totally incapable with communication and guiding students into a future career showing no interest in the students but wanting to fiddle with GOVERNMENT FUNDED money given to provide people with an education and spend it on the Collage campus rather than giving student a proper education and a professional working environment. Multiple of my teachers have left due to the toxic work environment form higher up authority's. I AM ON MY 13 TEACHER this year. I haven't achieved what I wanted to and my overall experience has been terable and no thanks to the deputy and principal running Macclesfield Collage. If you're considering coming Macclesfield Collage next year I would seriously re think Ofsted should be made aware and the Collage and teachers should be put under investigation for multiple reasons.
