Robert Gordon University

(5)·By Rowan M·Design· Jun 2023
The university has a nice modern campus with great staff covering lots of different expertise. For me, the university has done wel during covid offering support and helping students re emerge out the other side of covid. It has allowed me to find my passion through experimentation and course work.

Business Studies / Management, Year 2

(5)·By Lilli L·Business· Jul 2021
Good, the Uni organises a bunch of different things for freshers and you get to know many people from all over the world. There's lots of different private student accommodations around town and RGU has their own accommodation as well. The Uni is very new with great study facilities and a lovely library. The course has a great mixture of academic and practical knowledge which is amazing for applying to jobs The city is great for students, especially because there's another Uni around along with several colleges

Accounting and Finance, Year 2

(5)·By Emily·Accounting· Oct 2018
I'm currently a 2nd year student at RGU and study accounting and finance. I find my course extremely good and have secured my Year 3 placement which is offered on the course. There are also a number of societies and clubs available to join, I've tried the mountaineering club so far in my first semester of Year 2 which I found great! There are also many opportunities to study abroad etc which is a great opportunity.
My course itself has been a challenge but there is always support available and not only the university but the student union is always on hand! The atmosphere is also much different from other universities and is very open plan and good for coming together to study.

I've loved the flexibility and inclusivity of studying at RGU. I think they really consider each students needs and use learning approaches that are enjoyable and suit as many people as possible

Other, Year 2

(4.8)·By Lucy W·Other· Oct 2018
My university experience last year was great although I am shy! I did struggle but eventually did settle in to a group of friends on my course. Unfortunately my flatmates and I didn't really gel very well but I wish them the best for the future! This year I've decided to be more outgoing and have joined the RGU dance team! Bit out of my comfort zone but I've met a few new friends there! My flatmates are great this year, we all really get on! Here's to a better year at uni and to hip hop dancing my way through exams in January!

Business and Management Studies, Year 3

(4.8)·By Holly D·Management· Oct 2018
I did a two plus two with aberdeen college and to start with there was very little support in the way of moving up to Year 3 at university.
Luckily RGU is a very open and helpful university that has meant I've made lots of new friends from many other countries and lecturers are usually more than happy to help when you need it.

Building, Year 4 Plus

(4.8)·By Connor H·Building / Construction· Oct 2018
My experience in Uni has been fantastic. I've made loads of new friends in which I can say I will be friends with for life. I have expanded my knowledge in my course, building surveying. I also feel so much more confident in myself and I am looking forward to seeing where the knowledge I have learned will take me in life.

Business Studies / Management, Year 2

(4.5)·By Veronica M·Business· Jul 2021
I enjoyed myself a lot. There were many activities planned both in uni and outside uni whether they were pub quizzes or full-on nights out. I met lots of people and got the chance to figure out what different opportunities there were like societies, clubs and sports I stayed in private accommodation because I'm very fussy. But looking back I could have easily stayed at some of the uni accommodation as I visited and found that they were actually quite nice. And also the parties there were great and I met a lot of people The student union could use some work, there isn't a bar there it's just more of a bunch of offices. However all the rest is great, the library is very accessible and there's study areas everywhere around uni. The classrooms are normal classrooms nothing special, it's really good though that most have tables with built in plugs (Fashion management) I love the course, it's so creative and you get a lot of freedom with why you do for your coursework, you really get to show off what you can do. The lectures are also good as you get to not just listen but participate too Aberdeen isn't the biggest city but there's always something to do if you find the right people! I really like it here and love the vibe of the city, everyone is so welcoming and there's SO many international people which is great

Sports / Sports Science, Graduate

(4.5)·By Aidan K·Sports· Jul 2021
It was a fun time as everyone was in the same boat. It was a really good time to meet people and join clubs/societies of your own interest. Accommodation at university was very central to town, I loved living so close to all my favourite shops and restaurants. It was nice in first year living with fellow students also studying at the university. Unfortunately there is no really student union at RGU however the sporting facilities are great with an excellent pool and climbing wall area. I would like to see a union at the university that offers students a place to gather and also socialise Lecturers were very enthusiastic and enjoyed teaching the subject. It is nice to know they are always there to help and are very approachable. I am from the country so moving into the city was a big step for me. I found the city life exciting with lots happening in the evenings, there was always something on for everyone. I really enjoyed living so close to the gym where I could be there within a couple of minutes walking as opposed to driving 20 minutes like I did before university.

Law / Legal Studies, Year 3

(4.5)·By Morgan L·Law· Jul 2021
I didn't attend freshers week. But did see a few different stalls etc around uni! Seemed to be lots of things on offer for students and staff. Plenty of different choices of accommodation. Also accommodation on uni grounds & nearby. Other accommodation close to bus routes with a short journey to uni! Good facilities. Always clean and tidied regularly. Up to date and modern. Easy to find. Interesting and everyday was different. Lecturers engage well with students and you know where to find them. Fast paced and always things to do around uni. Not too far to get into town if uni finished Early which was good as plenty options of places to go for food etc.
