Sports / Sports Science, Year 3
(4.8)·By Vicki P·Sports· Jul 2021 Freshers week was an amazing way to get to know other people not just on my course but on other courses also. It was a way of making new friendships and creating bonds that will stay alive for a lifetime. The freshers week involved sober events too so that it was catered for everyone. St Mary's accommodation has a very wide range of facilities. There is a room that is suited to every individual whether that be en-suite or shared facilities. The halls that I personally stayed in were shared facilities and the common room was a great way to build those friendship bonds and have the best 1st year possible. St Mary's are known for their sports and the facilities, it is evident that the sporting facilities are high standard with a variety of different areas. The library has separate areas that suite people and their specific study needs which is fantastic in regards to catering to everyone. The Students union is amazing, not only is there a bar for social events but the team behind the students union really care about everyone at the university and their well-being and progress. University is ultimately about furthering your education and developing your knowledge. St Mary's have amazing lecturers that care about not only your grades but how you are doing as a person. They are very understanding and will help anyone that asks for it. The lecturers are well spaced and there is plenty of contact time to be able to understand and broaden your knowledge. St Mary's is based on the outskirts of London, being a 30 minute train journey into central this gives students the opportunity to experience all types of culture and activities. Specifically around the uni there are a few well known "towns" that cater to all needs and allow students to have their own time away from study. The area is also very close to 2 big parks which is very useful for students to train, walk or socialise away from their studies and support their mental well-being.
