Overall the experience at St Mary's has been amazing. Really one to remember. The course is top tier and really equips you for your future career as all aspects of life are covered. Accommodations are well kept and nice to stay in. The atmosphere is lively and you make friends that you keep for life. The student union is a great bar with great events that are hosted well and given a lot of light.

Film, Year 2

I think my university could have done more to bring excitement to students with film and I wish we were able to interact more different students. I don't use their accommodation but apparently it's really good and students feel like the uni provides them everything which is needed so they can feel comfortable and safe. I think the facilities are great to be honest. We have really big classrooms, the school has invested in sport utilities and I enjoy the library. I enjoy my lectures because my lectures are interactive and very supportive. I enjoy the subjects we are taught and they made it enjoyable and I like the assignments they give us. Twickenham is at the edge of London but I think it's really pretty and very green there's loads of green spaces. Also, it's easy to get to big places to shop like H and M.

My university experience

(5)·By Emma W·Sports Science· Jun 2023
University for me has been enthralling, meeting a bunch of new people to getting stuck into my course. It has been a whirlwind for the past 6 months but it has taught me to be more independent, enjoy life and just go for it. I have absolutely loved University so far and I'm excited for what the future brings.

To be able to train for your dream job is an amazing feeling. Then, to love it is another thing. Being educated about education is no easy feet. In St Mary’s they have it down to fine art. It's been my absolute pleasure studying at such an amazing place.

Freshers during my first and second year was unbelievable! It's an amazing opportunity to meet so many new people in a new environment. It's the perfect opportunity to make life long friends. It's a shame that COVID made that harder for this years freshers. Living in Halls was one of the best decisions I made. I was placed in a halls on the same floor with people who had the same hobbies and interests as me. I definitely made life long friends within my halls. The library is the perfect place to study independently or with your friends. It's got all the facilities to you need and then after a long study sesh we would head to our SU bar for a pint and it's such good prices and an amazing atmosphere. The lectures were always interactive and never dull. Every teacher made lessons fun. Being from the south coast. Moving into a large busier city was scary at first but allowed me to explore and see so many new things.

Education / Teacher Training, Graduate

Incredible so varied, something for all, really thought about everything. I was in Cronin, I had a lovely spacious room with an en suite. My cleaner came daily and she was so good at her job. Fantastic facilities, everything was always clean and sport st Mary's is a phenomenal faiclity. The rapport they build with you is so personal. It further deepend my passion for teaching and has propelled me to success in my career since, Very homely and the student population is small, everyone knows everyone so it is warming and inviting. It's like a small village vibe.

Sports / Sports Science, Year 3

Freshers week was an amazing way to get to know other people not just on my course but on other courses also. It was a way of making new friendships and creating bonds that will stay alive for a lifetime. The freshers week involved sober events too so that it was catered for everyone. St Mary's accommodation has a very wide range of facilities. There is a room that is suited to every individual whether that be en-suite or shared facilities. The halls that I personally stayed in were shared facilities and the common room was a great way to build those friendship bonds and have the best 1st year possible. St Mary's are known for their sports and the facilities, it is evident that the sporting facilities are high standard with a variety of different areas. The library has separate areas that suite people and their specific study needs which is fantastic in regards to catering to everyone. The Students union is amazing, not only is there a bar for social events but the team behind the students union really care about everyone at the university and their well-being and progress. University is ultimately about furthering your education and developing your knowledge. St Mary's have amazing lecturers that care about not only your grades but how you are doing as a person. They are very understanding and will help anyone that asks for it. The lecturers are well spaced and there is plenty of contact time to be able to understand and broaden your knowledge. St Mary's is based on the outskirts of London, being a 30 minute train journey into central this gives students the opportunity to experience all types of culture and activities. Specifically around the uni there are a few well known "towns" that cater to all needs and allow students to have their own time away from study. The area is also very close to 2 big parks which is very useful for students to train, walk or socialise away from their studies and support their mental well-being.
