Develop a critical and practical understanding of sport management and development, coaching, physical education and the sociology and psychology of sport.<br/><br/>This degree is designed for those who wish to examine the role of sport, health and physical activity within society. <br/><br/>Youll have the opportunity to develop a fundamental understanding of sport management and development, coaching and physical education, and the sociology and psychology of sport. You will also develop an advanced understanding of at least one of these areas of study. You’ll consider the contributions sport makes to society and assess whether and how sport can be improved. You will study against the backdrop of the University’s world-class multi-sport training environment.<br/><br/>In your first year youll study introductory units in the key areas of sport management, coaching, development, sport psychology, the political and social context of sport, and research methods.<br/><br/>In your second year youll have the opportunity to develop your areas of specialism through your choice of optional units connected to sport management, coaching, development, sport psychology and the social context of sport, health and physical activity.<br/><br/>In your final year youll carry out a year-long research project and advance your studies in the areas of sport, health and the social sciences.<br/><br/>Students in the past have gone on to careers in fields such as sport performance, sport marketing, community sport, and teaching, among others. Graduates have also pursued further study in a number of different areas.
