This MEng programme equips you with the underlying knowledge and skills you need to become a creative Civil and Structural Engineer, capable of planning, designing and overseeing the construction of sustainable structures and transport infrastructure systems.<br/><br/>Civil and Structural Engineering involves the design, construction and maintenance and repair of infrastructure such as roads and bridges, buildings, and underground transport systems.<br/><br/>You’ll develop a broad knowledge of geotechnical, structural, environmental and management aspects of civil engineering, and gain the computing, mathematical, drawing and communication skills you need as an engineer.<br/><br/>This 5-year MEng programme includes four years of study and a placement year in industry. The placement enables you to build industry contacts while developing your skills and professional confidence.<br/><br/>On completion of the programme you’ll be able to enter range of graduate civil engineering roles. Our employability rate is 97% - one of the highest in the UK.<br/><br/>You’ll be joining a dynamic profession with a high demand for skilled graduates, and contribute to the prosperity of our society. <br/><br/>**Professional accreditation**<br/>This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation on behalf of the Engineering Council as fully satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng). <br/><br/>The degree is also recognised by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education).<br/><br/>**Placement** <br/>This programme offers you the opportunity to take up a placement year working in industry in your third year.<br/><br/>The placement year is an excellent way to develop your professional experience, build industry contacts, and gain insight into the day-to-day work of a professional engineer.<br/><br/>After completing your placement you’ll return to complete the final year of the programme, and apply all you’ve learnt to studies.
