Our Design Engineering BEng(Hons) with integrated foundation year course offers an extra year to prepare you for study at degree level.<br/><br/>On successful completion of the foundation year, you can progress directly to the Design Engineering BEng(Hons). This degree combines computer modelling, practical experience and theory, to help you become an inventive, creative problem-solver. You’ll develop the ability to generate innovative, user-centred design solutions that are sustainable, socially responsible, commercially and technically sound.<br/><br/>Learning in a friendly, collaborative studio environment, you’ll work on industry-linked projects with other engineering and design students supported by expert staff.<br/><br/>What to expect on the course:<br/>-Foundation year that opens up opportunities in engineering if you don’t hold the required qualifications, are changing career or returning to study.<br/>-Work alongside others in a friendly, creative and collaborative studio environment.<br/>-Project work such as designing and building water rockets, finding solutions to Fixperts challenges, working on the design and development of bike force pedals for Team GB<br/>-Specialist facilities including flight and car simulators, wind tunnel, prototyping labs and workshops, CNC machines, robotics and VR labs<br/>-Expert staff with excellent industry contacts<br/>-Guest lectures from professionals and placement option<br/>-Bike Sim Lab – research project developing mechanical and aerodynamic tools for bicycle training and simulators
