Nursing (Mental Health)

Few roles in healthcare are as personal as mental health nursing. You will work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, psychosis and trauma, providing support, advocacy and guidance to help them move forward.

Our BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing degree prepares you for this responsibility. It combines strong academic learning with hands-on experience across a wide range of real-world mental health settings.

You will join a supportive learning community in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. Teaching reflects the realities of professional practice. From your first term, you will develop clinical knowledge, communication skills and professional judgement, supported by experienced staff who understand the demands of the role.

You will learn in well-equipped classrooms and advanced simulation facilities, building clinical skills in a safe environment before applying them in practice. Your placements are arranged through partnerships with local healthcare providers and tailored to the course, giving you experience across a broad range of mental health settings.

This approach supports the NHS Long Term Plan and responds to the growing demand for skilled mental health nurses across the region.
