Composition Master of Music - MMus

Explore how to find and express your compositional voice and understand where your music fits in with the world.

With our MMus Composition, you’ll develop the advanced creative, technical and collaborative skills for pursuing a career in the musical and creative arts. Whatever your musical interests, you’ll deepen and specialise your creative and technical craft under the guidance of our internationally recognised tutors.

You’ll learn to develop your voice as a composer and a musician, while strengthening your critical skills, like research and presentation. You’ll explore the different principles of composition and how they apply to different professional settings. You’ll then put theory into practice by working on live briefs, addressing practical challenges based on today’s creative industries, or collaborating with other artists.

You can choose to study specific areas such as musicology, film music, global music education, electronic music and technology, performance, and music psychology. You’ll also develop a major original project, giving you a professional-grade portfolio to showcase your skills and where you see yourself as an artist.
