Mental health support

(5)·By Nomagugu M·Nursing· Jun 2023
As an international student in the UK I first though it was going to be hard for me to adapt. At first it was hard being so far away from and I couldn't cope up with the homesickness. Thankfully, the strong support system has been very helpful to make me maintain balance between work, university and my social life.

Psychology, Year 2

Overall, an amazing experience. I've met a lot of people, on my course and people on other courses. Living in halls for the Year 1 was also an experience for me, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

English Studies, Year 2

(5)·By Shanice A·English Studies· Jul 2021
It was different this year for sure but a little better with getting people together. Freshers virtual festival was pretty good but the uni sent out Information that benefited everyone. It's great, spacious and lively. People respond well if any issues occur, it's in a great location and looks amazing. Library is awesome and the classrooms are good and spacious. The computer access is great and the student union is helpful and great. They are fun, interactive and interesting. Everyone engages well and enjoys the classes. City life is quite boring as it's a town. Not many clubs or restaurants but I guess the few there are are lovely with great atmosphere.

Education / Teacher Training, Year 3

Absolutely amazing. I met so many people and have so many friends from then to this day! The accommodation has both new and old and they are both organised in very social ways and they're all very clean and safe Amazing! They're new facilities where everything is brand new up to date and provides a very comfortable atmosphere for studying. They're 2 hours long which is perfect time and face to face and very practical. Can do learning first hand in a small class size instead of massive lectures in halls. City life in Northampton is small but there are plenty of bars and a few good clubs that everyone knows of and are all very close together and close to fast food at the end of your night.

My experience at the university has been amazing and interesting. I get to learn so much about our human body and relate them in real life. The teachers have been really helpful with assignments abd exams. Loads of resources abd information provided to students and extra help for students struggling, so overall my experience at University of Northampton has been GREAT

History, Year 2

Freshers week was amazing! I met so many new people and made so many new friends, it also helped me settle into uni a lot better. Freshers week is definitely one of the best memories I have from uni and the happiest I'd been in a long time x The accomodation was beautiful! It was exactly what I wanted and more, very spacious and the storage space was incredible Library was brilliant always had what I needed and it's 24 hour services is great for my study schedule. Sports facilities are also great, although I don't use the on campus one for my sport I've been to watch games etc and it looks great. The course is so diverse and covers a wide range of time periods. The lectures are different for every course which I like because it makes every day different City life was great, the city isnt massive so it's not daunting etc. It's great because you are constantly bumping into people you know which makes it very welcoming.

Psychology BSc

(4.8)·By Connie P·Other· Oct 2018
My lecturers were amazingly helpfull, even when i had finished my degree they tried to help me correct the issues that the university had flagged up. The course modules that i was able to choose from in my third year are awsome and i not a single person complained. I would advise that you would file away your reciepts from assignments because if they mess it up at the assignments office they do not keep their half always, so you need to be very careful.

I myself did not live in accommodation but my friends at uni did and I visited and stayed there alot. they are very good halls of residance, very clean and tidy. There is enough space and there are communal kitchens, most rooms if your lucky to get in early have ensuites and are very accessible.

The student union on both park and avenue campus are great places to go for a nite out and a laugh when they have their kareoke nites often comfused with comedy nights but people really do try their best! its suited to anyone as there are many pubs, bars and clubs open in the town centre which is only 5-10 minute drive away, there is a place for everyone to feel comfortable.

The library is very good, the books that they have are very widely selected as there is something for everything. Only problem is trying to find computers, some days it can be very easy others not so much, but you just have to learn which times are best( normally when lectures are beginning and ending is the best time, so if you go just before and just after the hour strikes, you shold get a computer).we have a gym at park campus that has all that you would need for a full body workout and they equipment is quite well looked after by the enthusiasts.

there are many clubs and societies to join, be them sports, literature or languages. Most school departments such as psychology, law ect have study groups in them which allow you to join for free and they help with assignments and it is sometimes just nice to know that everyone is doind the same thing as you. most societies are run by students
