Course description
Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire you. You'll study a range of areas in depth, such as:
* contemporary and modernist literature
* world cinema
* shakespeare
* gothic studies
* poetry and creative non-fiction
* literary linguistics
You can also engage with contemporary creative writing methods and practices.
The modules invite you to immerse yourself in state-of-the-art research into literature and culture, which then enables you to explore a topic of your own choosing with the dissertation. You will be supported by an expert in the field you have chosen for your dissertation project, and have detailed research training and advice in skills courses that accompany the dissertation module.
Our creative writing pathway
If you choose to take our creative writing pathway, you’ll produce portfolios of both creative and critical work for each module and for your dissertation. This work may take the form of:
* poetry
* prose poetry
* short stories
* novel extracts
* poetic prose
* hybrid texts and other genres
We also encourage you to experiment with other forms of media during your time with us.
