Biology / Biotechnology, Year 3

Freshers within the uni was very enjoyable, gave great opportunities to meet new people and get a feel for the uni! The accommodation at the university provides a broad range for all budgets. All accommodations are decent even the cheapest option. 24/7 security is also very comforting The new sports facilities are amazing. Brand new equipment and technology. Olympic size pool is also a great commodity. Library has various floors with specified volume levels, and loads of computers for use as well as a laptop loan system. Student Union has great cheap food and something happening every night of the week Lectures are so well informed and ready to help. You begin to feel like you know them on a personal level which is helpful if you run into an issuer or require help. Lecture material is provide before hand for reading over and all lectures get recorded incase you miss one Although a small city, Stirling has a great student population which makes it feel safe. Everything is within walking distance. And I've created memories in this city I will cherish forever

Film, media and cultural studies, Third Year

It has been great. The staff and course leaders in the university have been greatly supportive. There are a lot of opportunities with on campus societies and I have felt very supported by the student union being part of these clubs.

Overall I feel that Stirling has a very warm and welcoming campus and it's staff (especially in the media department), have always been very supportive and welcoming.

The on campus facilities at the university are second to none; with excellent sport amenities, caf?©'s, accommodation, and even the quality of the lecture theatres! All the staff, from personal experience, have been willing, friendly and extremely supportive which really helps in a stressful environment. The night life is fantastic, with something new happening every night of the week. I would 100% recommend the University of Stirling!

Please write a few short sentences mentionining your night's out, how passionate your teacher's are/were, involvement in sports/societies and what it's like at your local and living with your friends.

Stirling University has been a fantastic place to learn, The city is a great place to socialise while feeling the safety from the sense of community. the on campus venue is a great assist to the university as I have been able to meet lots of new friends there. I have really loving my course as I find my lectures stimulating while challenging thanks to the lectures who not only provide excellent standards of teaching but also are very approachable and welcoming to any help I need.

my involvement in sports has been enhanced at Stirling university because of the location, living surrounded by the outdoors were I can readily take a hike or cycle. additionally the gym provided a great way to keep fir and healthy. I live with flatmates on campus, I feel if I ever have an issue or problem there is also a nearby employee to talk to which I am very thankful for.

Journalism, Year 2

(4.8)·By Michaela R·Journalism· Jul 2021
I had moved into the university accommodation the week of freshers which was a good opportunity to see who in my flat was also studying Journalism. I got my timetable and went to inductions which also took away any worries I had about the course. It was an all-round great week with all the activities and meeting new people. I stayed in Andrew Stewart Hall which meant I shared a kitchen with 7 other people which was a squeeze at times but still good in the sense that there was different people to speak to. The security/receptionist staff were very helpful in any questions or problems I had. They also got your parcels to you quickly! En-suites were a plus with the reasonable price and there was a good social space also with a pool table, TVs and much more. I personally really enjoy the library. It is really big and built by floor with each floor being how quiet you want your study space to be. At exam time it is open 24 hours a day which is helpful. I would even go late as I felt safe walking back on campus. The classrooms are always tidy and most are spacious. I tend to go to the nightclubs more than the student Union but when I did go prices were good and it was good for socialising. Campus is also lovely for walks and photographs! Lots of food places and shops on campus too. First year was an introduction to journalism which for me is most important as it started off and helped my development. It set me up for what my future career could be like and I am now involved in multiple writing opportunities which I probably wouldn't have had the courage to do without being taught these skills. I am now more positive and excited for being a future journalist. I am someone who really enjoys walking and Stirling is a beautiful place to do so. The scenery is great and me and my flatmates would go into town for food a lot along with drinks. We went 2/3 nights out a week which was a good way to break up your study and socialising time. I am from Glasgow and I feel the shop workers tend to be friendlier and more approachable in Stirling. Everything is so near the campus also.

Sports / Sports Science, Year 3

(4.8)·By Kira R·Sports· Jul 2021
Enjoyable but we did not have specific events for my course really. I got to meet my lecturers but there wasn't any opportunities to get to know my classmates. Overall I enjoyed freshers again Stirling I stayed in Ash, one of the older but better options as I had an en suite. I had 18 flatmates with 2 kitchens! I loved it as I got to make good friends since I had many options Sports facilities are fantastic especially after the recent refurbishment. Library is great too I loved studying there. The lectures were interesting and focused on my subject as we had some specific modules just for my course. The course started really broad and has started to narrow so I have a basis of knowledge I am beginning to build upon. It's not a big city but it still had lots of things to do. Having only 2 clubs did make it feel more like a large town than a city though - making the city life not have that “city” feel

I don't go out as much being a more mature student. But freshers week was good, nice to go out a couple times. Catch up with friends who have moved back to Stirling. I didn't live in accommodation but some of my friends did. They were very well furnished and comfortable. Great. The sports facilities are the best in Scotland. I play football, so the University suited me down to the ground. The library is also great, with three levels, and brilliant resources. I done a 4 year undergraduate course, and now doing a 2 year part time masters. The lectures, seminars and opportunities have and continue to be great. In my final year of my under graduate degree I went to Nepal for research. Good life experience as well as academic. I live in Stirling so know it so well. There is a good variety of bars, pubs and restaurants.

Psychology / Criminology, Year 2

(4.8)·By Karin B·Psychology· Jul 2021
The freshers were well organised and fun. I made friends rapidly within the first few weeks through the university events and flat parties. The staff were kind and the price was decent for the size of our flat. Our view was amazing and the multiple bathrooms saved my life. The library is separated into several floors and as you go up, the quieter you have to be. The classrooms and gym were clean and spacious. The seminars and lectures were engaging and captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed class discussions as an opportunity to make new friends. The city of Stirling is small, but holds absolutely everything you need. The sense of community really shines as you live there longer.

Freshers week was always fun from both things happening on campus and in town. Always had a great freshers night in the shopping centre with lots of discounts. Always good night life Accommodation is good I know some is better than others however I know if people had any issues things were sorted quickly for them Sports facilities are great in our uni however the library could be bigger as it becomes near impossible to find a seat during exam period My course is very interesting and the staff are great and extremely good at answering any questions and giving extra help when they can The city is good and small which makes it a very homely feel to loving there
