Fashion Journalism and Content Creation MA

This course is unique in its merging of cultural theory with fashion journalism. It is a multidisciplinary framework for independent study that leads to an original body of written and/or visual work. Students can choose to position their aspirations and work on a spectrum from media journalism to theoretical study, for example: a dissertation on the presentation of fashion on television; a book surveying the fashion industry in Canada; a new concept for a fashion magazine; a cultural analysis of the current position of masculinity in society. The course aims to develop highly articulate and aware fashion commentators who have sound research ability and strong written and visual communication skills. Cultural theory and journalism strands run in parallel through the first stage of the course. 3 of the 4 pathway units are focused on the practice of journalism, a key feature being visiting speakers from industry.<br/><br/>This course is based in Lime Grove in Shepherds Bush, which is west of Holland Park and Notting Hill. Tucked away in a quiet street, our Lime Grove campus is a beautiful brick building with rustic windows and high ceilings. Nearby Portobello Road market is the world’s largest antiques market and adjacent Shepherd’s Bush Market is full of vibrant fabrics, fresh produce, furniture and falafel.
