Westminster - the place to be!

(5)·By T P·English Studies· Jul 2024
The University of Westminster is a fantastic place to study. The campuses are mostly based in central London so students have the city on their doorstep. The University offers a variety of different courses and modules ranging from Criminology to Law to English, History, BioMed and many more. The school also has many societies which are free and organise events to encourage students from all campuses to meet each other and have a social life both on and outside of campus. The teachers and staff are friendly and present for students and whatever they may need. They encourage students to think about their careers from the start and give them the right tools to find out more about their future. All in all, it's a great place to be!

Psychology and Criminology

(5)·By Nasirah I·Psychology· Jun 2024
Studying Psychology and Criminology at Westminster has been one of the best choices I’ve made. The course is amazing for those who are into forensic psychology and for those who can’t decide between a Psychology or Criminology degree (like myself).

MA Specialised Translation

(5)·By Catherine F·Languages· Jun 2024
This course is really beneficial if you want to get a job in translation. It offers a mixture of theory and practical lessons, and you are able to use professional software that translators use. I have learned so much already, and I have only been there for 3 months.

My Westminster diaries

(5)·By RUBA K·Education / Teacher Training· Jun 2023
I am currently enrolled in a Master in TESOL course at the University of Westminster. I'm in the second half of the course, and I would like to talk about my overall experience so far at this university.

Taking this course has opened up a whole new world of knowledge for me in terms of teaching English to foreigners. It has helped me gain an in-depth knowledge of language blocks such as grammar, phonetics, phonology, Lexis, etc. This course has given me an understanding of how language is acquired and learned in different ways. It has enriched me with the essential tools required to become a better ESL teacher. So far I have found the course very fun and amazing, as it is mostly research-based and requires a lot of time being spent on reading and researching, which opens the doors to knowledge and promotes critical thinking, meaning we are not just studying to pass an exam or are not limited to studying a few chapters only. We at Westminster are constantly striving to come up with the most effective strategies for English language teaching. These strategies have not only been tried and tested but also encourage students to discover ideas and strategies that can help enhance the way we teach the English language. This is because we can look at things from various different perspectives.

Talking about the tutors onboard, I would like to comment that

We have the most experienced, highly qualified, knowledgeable, and friendly teachers, that have a positive rapport with their students, respecting and valuing their perspectives on things. In terms of career services and employability, I can't really speak much as I haven't thoroughly explored this section. This is because I was too occupied with assignments and classwork. Nevertheless, it needs to be done next, and I can review it once I am involved. Moving on, the university campus is in the center of London, on Oxford Street which is accessible to all students. It is a very neat and tidy campus. It has all the facilities such as a cafeteria, washrooms, gym, prayer rooms, study area with all the computers and printing machines, library, smart boards etc.

And the coolest part is, it is very accommodating with regard to welcoming students from various different backgrounds and cultures, which again promotes cultural diversity. Regarding the tuition fee, I think it is worth it. It is quite affordable compared to other universities. In a nutshell, I would say that it is going to be a life-changing experience for all of you out there willing to study at Westminster, as it has been for me. I strongly recommend all the potential students out there to come and get enrolled at the University of Westminster.

Great facilities and easy connections to tutors and lecturers, good use of online facilities. Need more seating and chill areas. Lots of societies to join and there are a range of opportunities and activities to participate in. There's always something going on.

Politics / International Relations, Year 3

(5)·By Jeff P·Politics· Jul 2021
Light, Easygoing and very helpful. It was both fun and engaging in and outside of uni with help all over campuses. It was a very enjoyable experience! Its private but they have a deal with the university to reserve a certain amount of rooms for our students. It's nicer than a typical accommodation, as well as convenient and well priced for a London en-suite. With decent facilities. Plenty of things to do and see. In terms of library's there are 4 in central London and pre COVID were 24 hours so you could go at anytime. Plenty of resources. With unions and other things there are plenty to join and do. It's a very nice university. It was engaging and lecturers genuinely teach and slow down to help you if necessary. They try to encourage discussions to learn more and in depth which is great for my subject. The material is different and of more new age as well which shows a good shift to the modern thought. It's great as there's so much to do and see, London never gets old as it's so big and busy. Whatever it is you're looking for it's probably out there a tube or Uber away. London is simply the best city in the world.

Business Studies / Management, Year 2

(5)·By Noordeep j·Business· Jul 2021
It was great experience, I got to know more about the university, had a quick tour. Got some free goodies and food and got a chance to meet new people and make friends. I felt like it made me more comfortable around new people. It is quite nice actually. I was surprised as I didn't expect it to be like that. I have my own bathroom and a shared kitchen and living area. Having my own bathroom makes me feel very comfortable and overall the atmosphere around the accommodation is good. They are super good. Library has all the books you could possibly need. Classrooms nice, bright and comfortable. Great equipment around the campus. I haven't used the sports area yet. The good things were that we were made very comfortable, I had heard stories about university, which had made me very scared but after attending it all went away, I was told you can't ask teachers many questions and that they don't help you, but they did. City life is great. I love being in central London, as there is sooo much to do! From really nice restaurant, clubs and party places. And great choice for shopping tooo.
