My Westminster diaries
Taking this course has opened up a whole new world of knowledge for me in terms of teaching English to foreigners. It has helped me gain an in-depth knowledge of language blocks such as grammar, phonetics, phonology, Lexis, etc. This course has given me an understanding of how language is acquired and learned in different ways. It has enriched me with the essential tools required to become a better ESL teacher. So far I have found the course very fun and amazing, as it is mostly research-based and requires a lot of time being spent on reading and researching, which opens the doors to knowledge and promotes critical thinking, meaning we are not just studying to pass an exam or are not limited to studying a few chapters only. We at Westminster are constantly striving to come up with the most effective strategies for English language teaching. These strategies have not only been tried and tested but also encourage students to discover ideas and strategies that can help enhance the way we teach the English language. This is because we can look at things from various different perspectives.
Talking about the tutors onboard, I would like to comment that
We have the most experienced, highly qualified, knowledgeable, and friendly teachers, that have a positive rapport with their students, respecting and valuing their perspectives on things. In terms of career services and employability, I can't really speak much as I haven't thoroughly explored this section. This is because I was too occupied with assignments and classwork. Nevertheless, it needs to be done next, and I can review it once I am involved. Moving on, the university campus is in the center of London, on Oxford Street which is accessible to all students. It is a very neat and tidy campus. It has all the facilities such as a cafeteria, washrooms, gym, prayer rooms, study area with all the computers and printing machines, library, smart boards etc.
And the coolest part is, it is very accommodating with regard to welcoming students from various different backgrounds and cultures, which again promotes cultural diversity. Regarding the tuition fee, I think it is worth it. It is quite affordable compared to other universities. In a nutshell, I would say that it is going to be a life-changing experience for all of you out there willing to study at Westminster, as it has been for me. I strongly recommend all the potential students out there to come and get enrolled at the University of Westminster.
