Theatre Directing MA

The innovative MA Theatre Directing provides fantastic opportunities for you to explore directing actors in a professional context, to support your personal career goals. If you are an aspiring or practising director with innovative ideas and a desire to collaborate with like-minded practitioners, this course will allow you to further develop yourself artistically, academically, and professionally.

Through four modules across Autumn and Spring Semesters, you will apply a theoretical lens to your own and others’ professional practice. Drawing on a broad range of performing arts research, you will be encouraged to actively investigate areas such key techniques in directing for performance, rehearsal management, approaches to preparing and working with text, directorial concepts, and entrepreneurship within the arts industry.

The MA programme will take a person-centred approach and include a balance of expert tuition, experiential workshops, and self-guided study. You will learn to analyse your key interests, beliefs, and values and work collaboratively with your peers to expand your knowledge and develop your creative and directorial skills.

During your MA, we will help you turn your ideas into reality. We will introduce you to cutting-edge research and assist you with broadening your network within the industry.
