This programme marries high level academic study with professionally focused practical outcomes, giving a new generation of creators a foundation to make a positive impact through filmmaking.
Whether entering from practical, technical or academic prior study, the MA Filmmaking centres around the impact of Film, TV and Video on audiences, communities and to illicit change. Students will consider the meaning and intention of their work, exploring aspects of practical filmmaking, research methodologies and enterprise skills with input from relevant organisations and individuals, locally and nationally.
Outcomes from the programme will be negotiated with each student, exploring individual motivations in the context of careers, opportunities and ambitions. Students will be able to fully absorb themselves in the unique experience of study at an Art School with creative community, facilities, artistic expertise and expression at its heart.
This creative industry-focused programme typically provides 6 hours of contact time per week across the academic year, with increased independent supervised study in the final module. Students also have open access to studios and workshops for independent study (subject to School opening times and availability).
