As part of this course, you’ll:<br/>• Learn about language acquisition, systems and teaching methodology and apply it to your teaching practice<br/>• Build your understanding of socio-cultural aspects of language in educational settings and the home environment. You’ll learn how these aspects affect attainment and wellbeing<br/>• Discover how to create truly inclusive multicultural classrooms<br/>• Develop your identity and communication skills as an English as an Additional Language (EAL) professional<br/>• Hone your practice during classroom sessions and through reflective practice in a supportive, personalised learning environment<br/><br/>Teaching and learning<br/>This practice-focused, applied course will begin with the theoretical and applied principles of language acquisition and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). You’ll work towards applying your knowledge in practice, experiencing real-life EAL settings. <br/><br/>The course places EAL teaching within a rapidly changing, globalised socio-cultural context. You’ll study heritage language learning and the sociological aspects of global Englishes, including issues such as social justice and inclusion.<br/><br/>You’ll be taught by experienced tutors with expertise in multilingual language acquisition, working with migrants, materials development, and digital pedagogy.
