The MChem (Hons) Chemistry is an integrated four-year undergraduate masters degree that combines hands-on laboratory experience with classroom learning to provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills you’ll need to pursue a career or further study in the chemical sciences.<br/><br/>You’ll study core areas like inorganic, organic, physical, and analytical chemistry while exploring specialist fields such as synthetic chemistry, catalysis, materials chemistry, and green chemistry - equipping you with skills for real-world applications and sustainable solutions.<br/><br/>The integrated masters route provides a strong foundation for postgraduate studies, including doctoral research, with the opportunity to complete an advanced research project in the final year.<br/><br/>Our curriculum is designed to align with industry needs and developments, equipping you with the skills employers demand - like planning and conducting experiments independently, interpreting outcomes, and adapting methodologies to solve unfamiliar problems.<br/><br/>This degree also provides the option to spend an additional year broadening your horizons, either through a placement in industry or studying with one of our partner universities overseas, subject to availability.<br/><br/><strong>FEATURES AND BENEFITS</strong><br/><br/><br/>• We’ve invested over £115 million to transform the way we teach and the way our students learn. This includes a high-specification lab area with industry standard equipment and an adjacent computer suite.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Our teaching is supported by a range of technological innovations including videos, specialist software and simulations via VR to help you to prepare for practicals in advance – building your confidence in using lab equipment and allowing you to practise from home.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• In your first year you will have access to our online homework system, which allows gives you immediate, targeted feedback and hints to help you understand and practise key concepts.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• We have embedded career preparation activities into each year of your course to help you explore options, gain key employability skills, and build your confidence to apply for work experience and your future graduate career.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• You can take the five-year route, spending a year studying overseas in Europe, North America or Australia, or boost your career prospects with a 9-12 month placement.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Our diverse research activities directly inform our teaching. These focus on making a difference to global problems and creating a sustainable and healthy future, and include hydrogen fuel cells, catalysts, biosensors, drug discovery, green chemistry and the chemical monitoring of environmental change. <br/><br/>
