Nursing, Year 2

It was a great way of meeting people and just trying to be more sociable with others however as I only seen them once or twice it was difficult to stay in touch. It gives a good starting point in talking to others which helped when meeting people on your first day on your course. So freshers week was quite helpful Queen Margaret have been so useful in knowing where the places are if you are struggling and have a big support system in place of you are struggling The facilities are brilliant. There's lots of room in deciding where to go to study plus having maggies on campus gives that break and a place to relax for a while which is needed maybe after a hard day revision or lectures I love the course as the lecturers are absolute lovely and are always trying to help as much as they can. They have a huge support system if anyone's struggling and are very understanding The city life isn't too far from Musselburgh. Only being six minutes on the train. So it's really close by with lots to do and a good way of interacting with the new friends you will make

It was really good! lots of employment opportunities , there was also a variety of sports and societies to join! amazing social aspect as well, everything was executed really well! I loved the accommodation. Really spacious and on campus so really really good. It was a bit on the expensive side for what it was though Facilities are amazing! Everything is on campus which is so good, the library is open 24 hours which is amazing and the student union is so handy, very cheap food and drink and over all amazing. The sports facilities are amazing too! The lectures are good because they're really in depth and every lecturer really cares about the students! City life was amazing. The uni was really close to the city centre, only a short train or bus ride away! amazing nightlife too

Physiotherapy / Occupational, Graduate

Lots of friendly faces around and all were extremely welcoming. Helped to make the transition from school to uni a much smoother process You get what you pay for and it's nice to share a flat with some like minded students Lots of sports opportunities through the sports centre and different clubs. Student union are extremely helpful with everything, nothing is ever too much The course is very inclusive and the lecturers are fantastic. They really help guide you through the programme and are there to help with anything, not just uni related issues I love Edinburgh. So much to do and so many places to go, there is something for people of all ages

Nursing, Graduate

It was really good! Lots of goodies, met people from my course and lots of drink of course I've never lived in uni halls. But from what I've seen, it's modern, up to date and up to requirements Love the library. It's my second home. Student union is cosy, and the classrooms are bigger than need be :) The lecturers look out for you, they know your name and your needs/worries and really couldn't have done this course without their continued support it's been good! Calm in the day, electric at night

Film, Year 4 Plus

Entered directly in to 3rd year and the university was extremely helpful and welcoming - it organises a week specifically for direct entry students the week before class begins which is incredible. I enjoy every single module and have excellent lecturers who are considered highly in the industry, along with securing incredibly influencial guest speakers. The campus is excellent and has well beyond every resource I could dream off. The university is currently the 3rd top in the UK for employment rates and I believe I will find a graduate job thanks to Queen Margaret University.

Nursing, Third Year

Queen Margaret is such a great uni, there is so much support from the lecturers and staff. You never feel alone as there is always someone to help you! The lectures are very personal due to the small numbers ( although this means you aren't noticed if you miss one) but that's good because you want to be there. The clinical skills module for nursing is amazing, you have a skills class every week and plenty of time where you can go in and practice for yourself. Overall it's just such a great uni, the people are lovely it's friendly the societies are close and there is a family feel to the place!

Coming from college into 3rd is daunting but being at a close knit and friendly university helped greatly. Everyone knows each other and is on hand to help each other.

Education / Teacher Training, Year 2

(4.5)·By Emma G·Education / Teacher Training· Jul 2021
Freshers week was actually really good. There were a bunch of activities for different interests, one nigh there was bowling, another was a pub crawl, there was a ceilidh dance one night as well. There were also more chill stuff as well, there was like speed “friending” where you got a milkshake and got to meet new people a make friends. Of course there was a freshers fair and you got free pizza a sweets, I think it was a good week. I think k it's pretty good, I didn't stay in accommodation however a few of my friends did and I went over to their flats. The smaller rooms are still spacious and there's lots of storage in the kitchen which is also spacious, same with the bigger rooms which are bigger than my room at home so that says a lot! I like the library it is smaller than other university's but QMU is pretty small so it's not that big of the deal. The Staff are so helpful in the library, you can also book study nooks for one which is really helpful when you are behind on work! They look like they would be cramped but they aren't. The union is pretty good there tends to be something on all the time, over the start of the current semester they have five seats and there has been stuff like just dance in the tent. I am part of a sport team and I would say the sport facilities area good, not that big though, I haven't used the gym mostly because I live on the other side of Edinburgh and other gyms are closer. I honestly love my course! The content is so good we have so much discussions about stuff I didn't think we would and not only that we are getting additional qualifications on top of our degree! I now have a qualification in BSL, I am also getting my Level 1 in FOLA which allows me to be an outdoor schooling educator! My Personal Academic Tutor, is amazing, I've gone to him so many times when I'm in tears or something has been going wrong in my life and he's been so supportive, along with the other members of staff. They don't mind you emailing at weekends in fact I message one of them on a Saturday assuming I wouldn't hear back until Monday and she emailed me back after 5 minutes! Also we have Geetha Marcus as our lecturer, this is important because on her first year in the university she was voted to be the best lecturer in the university but the students so if that doesn't say something about how good they are you don't know what will. But genuinely I think we have lucked out and got some of the best lecturers for our course that are really passionate about Education. I love Edinburgh, if you want a city that doesn't feel like a big harsh city it is the place for you. The Christmas market is a must when it's on. You get everything in Edinburgh, there's theatre, cinemas, so many lovely independent pubs/restaurants/bars which are cheap, a must hit is Illegal Jacks they have great cheap tex-mex food one of my favourite places. Edinburgh also has 4 universities so there's a lot of good student places to go, so glad I get to live and go to work here.
