Drama, Year 2

Freshers week was jam packed of things to do. Both in the day time and night time. Everyone was so welcoming and there was a variety of things to do for different people. Rose bruford's accommodation is not too far away from the campus (10 minute walk). The kitchen and bedrooms are spacious and has everything you need in the building. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. All the facilities at bruford are excellent. From the library which has thousands of resources to the theatres on campus. There is also a walk in costume cupboard which is available for everyone at the school. Lighting rooms, workshop rooms where you can build set and rehearsal rooms that anyone can use whenever. The course is very well packed with Information and I feel that I am everting a lot for my money. The training is intense which is amazing! The lectures teach different aspects of the course. We also have visiting tutors which are good because they work in the industry It is great. Sidcup is quiet but if you want to be in a busier setting you can take a short train into London! There is plenty things to do to keep you entertained.

Rose Bruford is an amazing place to study! It's not as big as other unis however that makes it more personal like a family! The course American Theatre Arts which I'm doing is amazing and all the teachers are very professional and great at what they do! I love it here! The halls are very good quality however could be improved with staff when things are broken! The nightlife isn't great in sidcup but it's only a 30 min train ride to central London.

Staff And students are really friendly and happy to help you with any needs. The fact they have 'mental health first aiders' is a brilliant addition. The school itself is lovely and has some great facilities.

Intense

I study European Theatre Arts. We are not the favourite course at Rose Bruford, however the course definitely leaves its presence. Rose Bruford is a lovely uni with a very nice campus, it has accessibility student accommodation (although after first year there is little to no support for house hunting) and high quality training. However, at times there is a disparity with regards to the treatment if staff and students, plus finances are becoming slightly problematic. What makes the uni excellent is very much the people, this is why the development and growing acknowledgement of the student union (and student reps) is so crucial. The course is extremely intense and demanding, it is diverse and very effective, however it is a little extreme when it comes to assignments.

Rose Bruford Acting

(4)·By Rachel M·Drama· Jun 2023
Rose Bruford is the warmest community of people. Caring teachers and staff and a gorgeous campus experiences that not many drama schools can offer. Student welfare is very important at the school and we feel taken care of.
Funding cuts have been an unfortunate part of the year but the staff have proved that they're extremely committed to ensuring the teaching stays top notch. I couldn't have gone to a better place.
First year accommodation is alright although the staff are somewhat intolerant and cold but that's unrelated to the school, although they do look after us in this regard. There's a system set up to help us find housing afterwards which is very considerate.

So. Much. Fun. I forgot how great it is to meet new people and venture into new experiences. My course is so freeing yet disciplined, which I think is helping me to keep balance in my life in general. The parties are OBVIOSULY amazing, and there wasno sign of freshers flu either so that was a score! (It could still catch up with me in a few weeks though, but hopefully my yoga will keep it away). Nothing on the job front as yet, I wanted to allow myself to settle in first without having too many commitments but there's loads of little shops around so I have options no doubt.

Drama, Graduate

(3)·By Bethan B·Drama· Jul 2021
Freshers week was fun and well-tailored to the university. I enjoyed themed events and opportunities to perform. It was fun to have events on campus. The halls were very expensive And not worth the money. There was frequent occasions without hot water. The heating was constantly on, and the halls were so hot that people would faint. The library was full of useful and interesting books, it was a shame that it closed early. The rooms were well designed, but there were regular room shortages. The Student Union was sometimes useful, but there was no on campus bar. The course was difficult and very worth it. Lectures were always interesting. There is no student life in Sidcup, you have to go into London. London itself is great and full of exciting things to do.

Exciting and exhausting. Only week one and we're already learning so much, opening up to so many new things.

Drama, Year 3

(2.5)·By Tegan S·Drama· Jul 2021
The freshers week was a lot of fun, our student Union offered a limited number off ‘all access bands' which allowed 25 people to get into the entire weeks events for a lower price. Most of the events were evening drinking events however one night was a waffle and game night which was a lot of fun for those who don't drink. I think they could have improved the day time events. The accommodation is not great, the price is high and the staff are rude. Staff members who work at reception and manage the building are all family so it was difficult to formally complain. The facilities were substandard with only one working washing machine between 25 six person flats. The student Union were okay but not very approachable, the sport society were reluctant to advertise or recruit new members. The class rooms in lamorbey house are freezing and not the distribution of classrooms to courses is very unfair with the stage management course only having access to 3 between all three years whereas acting have 15 rooms. Before covid the food facilities were good however since covid all canteens have closed so people working 12 hour days on shows had no access to food without leaving campus. The business lectures were very informative. The practical show roles are very good for gaining experience. The collaboration projects helps gain a well rounded education. Sidcup is quite boring with only a handful of pubs. Accommodation for second and third year are hard to find and those that do house students are often dirty. There are many shops in the town.
