Our MA in Professional Translation is designed to turn linguists into skilled translators, with strong international career prospects.<br/><br/>Swansea University has a noted reputation for translation studies, welcoming students from around the world since the early 1990s and becoming one of only five UK-based founding members of the European Master’s in Translation Network (EMT) in 2009, set up by the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission, to raise standards in the training of translators. <br/><br/>Both our 1-year course and 2-year extended course have been developed to comply with the Bologna pattern of Higher Education, and can be studied either full-time or part-time, with flexibility to allow you to complete the 2-year course in 15 months. <br/><br/>Our Extended 2-year course offers the opportunity to add specialisation credits to your degree, either through further study within the university, or through a semester abroad at one of our partner institutions. Further details of these opportunities are made available during the first year of study. <br/><br/>For students with native or high competence in English and French, we also offer a Double award in Professional Translation Université Grenoble-Alpes (UGA) in France. <br/><br/><strong>Why Professional Translation at Swansea?</strong><br/><br/><br/>• Establish international collaborations in translation through the International Network of Simulated Translation Bureaus (INSTB)<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Undertake additional computer-assisted translation software certification, including RWS Trados Studio, Phrase and memoQ<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Swansea’s membership of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) entitles you to additional industry-relevant courses, resources and graduate opportunities<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Attend and/or be involved in professional talks and workshops with the Swansea Translation and Interpreting Research Group (STING)<br/><br/>
