<strong>The MSci Biochemistry and Biotechnology is a four-year degree, extendable to five with an optional year in placement or abroad.</strong><br/><br/>You’ll secure a strong understanding of how the processes of life function at molecular level and how biotechnology is addressing real-world problems and challenges.<br/><br/>By studying an integrated course, you’ll start at undergraduate level and graduate with a Masters-level qualification.<br/><br/><strong>WHY THIS COURSE</strong><br/><br/>The MSci Biochemistry and Biotechnology lets you explore molecular enzymology, neurodegeneration, structural biology and bioenergetics. You’ll also appraise the approaches that can be used to address the challenges currently facing our planet, such as biofuels, industrial and medical biotechnology, and bioinformatics.<br/><br/>You’ll first study three years at undergraduate level, then a final year at Masters-level where you’ll investigate more advanced topics and specialise in one area of research. <br/><br/>Add a placement year or study abroad to put your learning into practice, expand your perspective and build confidence in professional or international settings. Previous students have placed with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Proctor & Gamble (P&G), AquaTerra, AstraZeneca, Genzyme, Reckitt Benckiser, Thermo Fisher and Isogenica – some of our 40 partner labs.<br/><br/>By integrating Masters study, you’ll fast-track your degree and complete your Final Year in nine months, when a regular MSc usually takes twelve months.<br/><br/>You’ll graduate on the path to a career in biomedical science, biotechnology and other specialisms of biological sciences.

GCSE Maths C/4 is also required. Offers will be made from a minimum of the equivalent of 2 full A-levels including B in Chemistry or Biology plus grade B in a second science or Mathematics. Psychology, Statistics, Physics, Applied Science, Human Biology, Geography, and PE are all acceptable as second science A-levels. We accept A Levels, BTECs, Access to HE Diploma, International Baccalaureate, T Levels, AAQs and most other qualifications within the UCAS Tariff. Whilst International A-levels and BTECs aren't on the tariff calculator, we assign them the same tariff points as their UK counterparts
