The MSci Sports and Exercise Science is a four-year degree, extendable to five with an optional year in placement or abroad.
You’ll gain a new and exciting perspective on the world of sport, exercise, health and physical fitness, ready to help athletes optimise their performance and improve the physical activity, health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

<strong>The MSci Sports and Exercise Science is a four-year degree, extendable to five with an optional year in placement or abroad.</strong><br/><br/>You’ll gain a new and exciting perspective on the world of sport, exercise, health and physical fitness, ready to help athletes optimise their performance and improve the physical activity, health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.<br/><br/>By studying an integrated course, you’ll start at undergraduate level and graduate with a Masters-level qualification.<br/><br/><strong>WHY THIS COURSE</strong><br/><br/>The MSci Sports and Exercise Science provides you with a strong understanding of the role of physiology, psychology, biomechanics and nutrition in sports and exercise.<br/><br/>You’ll first study three years at undergraduate level, then a final year at Masters-level where you’ll investigate more advanced topics and specialise in one area of research.<br/><br/>By focusing on practical work in your first two years, you’ll consolidate your professional and scientific skills needed for your final-year research project. You can also gain more real-world experience at our renowned Human Performance Unit (HPU) where you can work with performance scholars, students, staff and members of the public.<br/><br/>Add a placement year or study abroad to put your learning further into practice, expand your perspective and build confidence in professional or international settings.<br/><br/>You’ll graduate on the path to a sports practitioner or sports scientist career, ready to further research on or implement changes to sport and exercise.

Or three Higher level certificates with 655-555, including Higher Level Science or Mathematics grade 5, plus Standard Level Science and Mathematics or Maths Studies grade 4, if not taken at Higher Level. Please note that Maths and Science in the IB are not required if you have already achieved GCSE or IB Middle Years Maths and Science at grade C/4. We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher and Standard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard level, and the course applied for.
