**International Relations** is the study of how states and national societies interact across borders, especially in the areas of political, military, economic and cultural relations.<br/><br/>Glasgow has a growing reputation for its research and teaching in the field of international relations, particularly in global security and conflict, as well as specialties in regional and area studies in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, China, and the Middle East. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of international relations and its relationship to politics, and will be taught by leading academics who are experts in their fields.<br/><br/>**Sociology** studies the ways that people organise their lives together, the constraints within which they do so, the patterns of their social behaviour, and the causes and consequences of social inequalities.<br/><br/>One of the distinctive features of our Sociology programme, commended by external examiners and by our graduates, is the combination of sociological, criminological and anthropological perspectives which we provide.
