This Masters in Sociology & Research Methods will provide you with research skills for qualitative and quantitative social investigation and theoretical knowledge of key problems in the philosophy of social science.<br/><br/>**WHY THIS PROGRAMME**<br/>- You will develop your knowledge of sociology, including a critical understanding of social theory and a knowledge of empirical research studies.<br/><br/><br/>- The programme will provide you with an advanced education in sociology, but can also serve as preparation for further sociological research in a PhD, to which many of our students successfully progress.<br/><br/><br/>- It will provide you with the Economic & Social Research Council-required level of research training in the pathway of sociology.<br/><br/><br/>- Sociology at Glasgow is ranked 4th in the UK by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 and 4th in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2025.<br/><br/><br/>**PROGRAMME STRUCTURE**<br/><br/>You will take four core courses and two optional courses, and complete a dissertation. <br/><br/>**Core courses**<br/>Current Issues in Social Theory<br/>Qualitative Research Methods<br/>Quantitative Data Analysis<br/>Research Design<br/><br/>**Optional courses may include**<br/>A Public Social Science for Social Justice.<br/>Class and Stratification<br/>Gender Relations (Contemporary Critical Approaches)<br/>Introduction To Social Theory For Researchers<br/>Sexualities And Society
