American and Canadian Studies PhD

As the only department in the UK to combine American with Canadian Studies, we examine North America in historical and contemporary contexts. Our research in North American histories and cultural expression addresses concerns of race, gender, and sexuality.<br/><br/>Work in the department reflects and leads a growing transnational agenda and research students are encouraged to think about America in a global context.
