(5)·By Octavia D·History· Jul 2021 It was a really informative week, the university provided and catered for both social and academic needs. The university SU always had an event of some form happening, similarly the library had sessions to learn where to find course related books and how to work the uni library system. It was a great few weeks where you meet new course mates too! Their accommodation varies in sizes and price, the cheapest accommodation had been recently renovated so it didn't matter which accommodation you stayed in! Campus was so close to the halls that if you lived off campus it made absolutely no difference, it was a lovely student bubble/hub. The SU was great all day - morning or evening, a place to work during the day, or have an after lecture drink with friends and it had fab night events like an ‘all naughties Tuesday'! The library is massive and cosy to study, and had nice rooms to do group work in too. The SU gym was also brilliant and so affordable as a student with great classes running all day and night. There was a great balance of lecture, seminar and personal study. History is a heavy reading course so having a good work spilt was important! The lectures and seminars were also really engaging especially the seminars where it's smaller groups and more focused, you really get to know your lecturer and fellow degree students. It always had something going on like a great Bonfire Night at the Hoe or Xmas markets. The clubs are all in walking distance, there are greats walks around Plymouth like the Hoe and the Barbican. Everything is catered for students- everywhere has student discount and the accommodation village was a 5 minute walk to Drake Circus.
