You’ll learn from leading academics whose research shapes the field of applied linguistics and TESOL. Our particular expertise lies in:
* second Language Acquisition
* academic Writing
* vocabulary Acquisition
* English for specific purposes
* materials design and testing
We also have extensive experience in related disciplines including, sociolinguistics, critical discourse analysis and corpus linguistics.
You’ll study theoretical approaches to TESOL in the research environment of an academic department, and put these into practice in our English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC). During your studies you’ll focus on key areas of learning and teaching second languages, including:
* Language Teaching Methodology
* teaching skills (writing in TESOL) and systems (grammar, vocabulary and discourse)
* materials selection and use
* classroom pedagogy and reflective practice
Through this unique combination of theory and practice, you'll develop an awareness of the theoretical principles underpinning TESOL practice and be equipped with the practical skills to work in diverse international educational contexts.
