Course description
Our MSc Creative and Cultural Industries Management programme is designed to prepare students for management, leadership and entrepreneurial roles across the global creative and cultural sector.
You’ll develop the critical skills, sector knowledge and practical understanding needed to work across a diverse range of creative industries and cultural organisations. This includes areas such as film, design, digital media, games, fashion, music, publishing, advertising, arts, festivals, heritage and cultural policy. The programme explores how creative enterprises operate, how cultural organisations are managed, and how ideas, audiences, funding, technologies and markets shape the sector.
Sheffield provides a distinctive setting for this learning. The city has a rich creative ecology, with strengths across music, film, design, making, independent production, festivals, exhibitions, performance, digital culture and grassroots creative activity. Its identity as a city of makers, artists, producers, venues and creative businesses gives students access to a vibrant environment during their studies.
Throughout the programme, you’ll be encouraged to engage with Sheffield’s creative and cultural landscape through sector-facing learning activities, cultural field trips and guest speakers. These experiences bring professional insight into the course, while optional practice-based opportunities and organisational projects will also allow you to gain valuable real-world experience.
Whether you want to work in creative business, cultural management, design, media, festivals, film, arts administration, heritage, policy, consultancy, entrepreneurship or further research, this programme will help you build the knowledge, confidence and professional perspective needed to succeed in a dynamic and evolving field.
