If you’ve studied criminology previously, are a graduate with a law, social sciences, humanities or other degree or a criminal justice practitioner, our MA International Criminology course is designed for you. In this MA, you’ll:
* Explore key challenges in criminology and criminal justice from comparative and strategic global perspectives.
* Build the relevant skills for a wide range of careers in the criminal justice system.
* Have the opportunity to tailor the course to your interests and career ambitions through a range of optional modules.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore modules covering inclusivity, equality and social justice, drawing on criminological research with different perspectives on factors such as gender, ethnicity and nationality.
You’ll study an MA designed with your employability in mind, at the UK’s top university for graduate prospects in Criminology (The Times UK University Rankings 2026).
You’ll engage in evidence analysis and problem-solving in all modules, developing critical thinking skills that are highly valued by employers in the field.
You’ll undertake work-related learning activities such as analysing policy documents and producing policy briefs, engaging with real criminological issues and developing skills in comparative analysis of global crime and justice trends.
Our International Criminology MA will equip you for careers in the criminal justice system, such as policing, prisons and probation, policy analysis and evaluation, and cutting edge areas including terrorism and counter-terrorism, gender based violence, and organised crime and trafficking.
You’ll also work on a dissertation under expert supervision from one of our internationally-renowned researchers, with the option to go into a research pathway if your goal is to proceed on to a PhD or a research career.
