International businesses and multinational firms increasingly need to balance financial performance with social, environmental and development responsibilities.
On this course, you’ll study how the economic behaviours, strategies and policies of international businesses influence sustainability and development outcomes. You’ll explore international business and strategic management through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), gaining insight into how firms operate across diverse institutional and policy environments.
By studying at Sussex, you’ll benefit from an interdisciplinary teaching and research culture. You’ll draw on leading expertise from the University of Sussex Business School, including SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit, as well as the School of Global Studies. You’ll examine how home country institutional environments shape firm strategy and how those strategies interact with host country contexts.
A key element of the course is the consultancy project, where you’ll design and deliver a solution to a real world business challenge. You’ll also have the option to take part in an internship, allowing you to apply your learning in a professional setting.
As a member of the UN Global Compact network, the Business School is committed to creating a sustainable and inclusive global economy. We also follow the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), embedding responsibility and sustainability into our teaching and research.
When you graduate, you’ll have the analytical and practical skills to address global challenges and pursue careers in international business, development agencies, NGOs, consultancy, or policy related organisations.
This course is for you if you are:
* working in international business, development agencies, or NGOs and aiming to progress into leadership roles
* a graduate in business, environmental studies, or related disciplines seeking careers in management or policy.
