Social and Cultural Anthropology MA

Anthropology is the study of human cultures and societies in a changing world. Through field research and observation, anthropologists generate fresh insights into complex global challenges. You’ll learn to understand the experiences of those most affected by these challenges.

On this course, you’ll:

* gain advanced knowledge of anthropology’s academic tradition and contemporary application

* tailor your degree to match your own interests within anthropology

* develop ethnographic research skills and apply them in your dissertation

* put theory into practice, learning how anthropology makes a difference in the world.

You’ll be part of our School of Global Studies. We have a strong tradition of engaged anthropology focusing on real-world issues. This MA is for you if you want to deepen your knowledge of anthropology – but it also offers professional training if you’re new to the field.

Anthropology is applicable in everyday life and a growing number of professional contexts, from NGOs to large companies and education institutions to research and policy organisations. As a graduate, you’ll be ready to make your significant contribution.
