Our PGCE Secondary Chemistry course is designed to ignite a passion for science in the classroom and prepare you for a successful career as a chemistry teacher. <br/><br/>This Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and provides you with the skills to teach chemistry at the secondary level, including GCSE and A-Level.<br/><br/>Through a combination of university-based learning and school placements, you will explore innovative teaching methods that make chemistry accessible and engaging. You will cover key areas of the subject, from chemical reactions and the periodic table to more advanced topics like organic and physical chemistry.<br/><br/>Placements in a range of schools, including urban, rural, and Welsh-medium settings, will give you valuable teaching experience in different environments. These placements will help you develop your confidence in the classroom and provide you with the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in practical situations.<br/><br/>Alongside chemistry-specific training, you will also gain skills in classroom management, assessment techniques, and supporting diverse learners. Mentor support during your placements will ensure you have guidance as you develop your teaching style.<br/><br/>By the end of the course, you will be equipped to inspire students with a love for chemistry, helping them to develop the scientific skills they need for the future.<br/><br/>The programme highlights the importance of science education in an increasingly technological world. Financial support is available through bursaries and scholarships.
