MSci Chiropractic Msci (Hon)

Train as a chiropractor and develop expertise in musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis and a range of treatment techniques through hands-on clinical learning, research-informed teaching and supervised clinical placements, preparing you for registration with the General Chiropractic Council and impactful, patient-centred practice.<br/><br/>This course is recognised by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), giving you eligibility to apply for registration and practice as a chiropractor in the UK after graduation (subject to GCC requirements). Clinical learning and placements are built into every year of the course. In your final year, you will complete a 12-month, on-site clinical placement, managing your own supervised patient caseload to prepare for autonomous practice.<br/><br/>You study 30-credit modules sequentially in six-week blocks, allowing you to focus on one subject at a time, build competence progressively and receive regular assessment and feedback. You will learn through a variety of engaging and contemporary teaching approaches in well-resourced learning spaces and a fully equipped on-campus chiropractic clinic, supported by chiropractic clinicians who bring valuable experience from patient care, research and education <br/><br/>Lastly, there is emphasis on innovation and research-led learning. Chiropractic Professional Practice introduces what it means to be a safe, ethical practitioner. Chiropractic Patient Care helps you build confidence in taking histories, doing simple exams, communicating clearly and practising early manual techniques under supervision.<br/><br/>Year 2: develops your scientific knowledge and clinical confidence. <br/>Spinal Anatomy, Assessment and Injury deepens your understanding of how the spine works and what can go wrong. Physiology, Pathology and Diagnosis strengthens the biomedical knowledge you’ll use in clinical reasoning. Evidence led Chiropractic Practice helps you apply research to real world decision making while safely developing manual techniques. Principles of Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation introduces the basics of movement assessment and exercise based care.<br/><br/>Year 3: builds your skills to manage a wide range of patient cases. <br/>You’ll study Managing Musculoskeletal Conditions and Pain, focusing on MSK assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Managing Non Musculoskeletal and Complex Conditions helps you work confidently with complex or non MSK presentations using clear reasoning and a biopsychosocial approach. In Applied Evidence based Practice and Research, you learn to evaluate research and start planning your final year project.<br/><br/>Year 4: focuses on developing full clinical independence.<br/>In Integrated Clinical Practice, you complete a 12 month extended clinical placement in our on-site clinic, where you bring together your skills and gain experience, managing your own case-load of patients under supervision. Through the Independent Research Project, you design and complete your own piece of research.
