The course is full-time and is designed for graduates wishing to gain a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education in the post compulsory sector (note this qualification does not qualify you to teach in the primary or secondary sector). The course provides a holistic understanding of what it means to be a teacher, both within and beyond the classroom. You will gain experience of teaching in a subject specialist area and learn how to develop a curriculum. The course is practice-based and will enable you to develop inclusivity and your professional abilities for the future. Applicants must complete 250 hours classroom teaching in the year. Once you have completed the course, you can expect to be working in a lifelong learning environment with all the relevant skills that you need to support the students in your care. When you have completed the qualification you may go on to gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status, the benchmark for professional educators in lifelong learning and providing a pathway for teaching roles across diverse educational sectors.
