It is ideal if you have an undergraduate degree in economics, and would like to deepen your knowledge by learning how it can be applied to improve the world we live in. It is equally suitable for those with an undergraduate degree in other disciplines with a substantial quantitative element, who are aspiring to transition into a career as a professional economist.<br/><br/><strong>Develop professional skills</strong><br/>This programme equips graduates with a professional understanding of the tools and applications of contemporary economic analysis. It provides up-to-date training in economic concepts and models, and in the econometric and data modelling tools used in current empirical economic investigation. The programme includes modules in both microeconomics and macroeconomics, as well as modules in research skills, econometrics and data science, along with a selection of optional modules. It examines the practical applications of economics in various policy and decision-making areas such as health and well-being, climate change, inequality, fiscal policy, exchange rates, and the balance of payments.<br/><br/><strong>Tailor your programme modules</strong><br/>The structure is flexible, allowing you to tailor your studies to your interests and career aspirations. <br/><br/>We offer three pathways: <br/><br/><br/>• MSc Economics, a broad pathway covering a wide spectrum of topics in economics.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• MSc Economics (Sustainable Development), with a focus on economic growth and development, and the economic analysis of the environment.<br/><br/><br/><br/>• MSc Economics (Data Science), with a focus on the range of tools of empirical research and analysis used for understanding economic and other real-world problems. <br/><br/><br/><br/>You will also have the opportunity to build critical assets for your CV, either by:<br/><br/><br/>- undertaking independent research on a topic of your choice under the mentorship of our experts;<br/><br/><br/>- investing time participating in a real ‘consultancy’ project;<br/><br/><br/>- an internship attachment that is contingent on available positions and current HMRC rules.<br/><br/><br/><strong>Real-world relevant learning</strong><br/>This programme explores the diverse array of impacts that the economic way of thinking has on our world. The degree emphasises the application of economic tools and methods.
