Our PhD/MPhil Inflammation Sciences programme enables you to undertake a research project that will improve understanding of Inflammation Sciences.<br/><br/>Inflammation sciences combine cutting edge research with translational biology.<br/><br/>Principal investigators come from a variety of disciplines (medical sciences, mucosal immunology, cell biology, genetics) to address key questions in the inflammation field.<br/><br/>Many projects are disease-focused, with an emphasis on understanding mechanism or addressing an unmet clinical need.<br/><br/>Investigations are carried out using both human tissue and animal models to accelerate translation.<br/><br/>State-of-the-art core facilities in flow cytometry, imaging, microscopy, bioinformatics and transgenics provide progressive approaches to complex research questions.<br/><br/>Examples of research programmes include<br/><br/><br/>- inflammation, tissue recovery and repair<br/><br/><br/>- mucosal tissue homeostasis<br/><br/><br/>- immune responses in the intestine<br/><br/><br/>- skin inflammation<br/><br/><br/>- neuroinflammation<br/><br/><br/>- lung immunity<br/><br/><br/>- infections and allergens in asthma<br/><br/><br/>- fungal lung disease<br/><br/><br/>- biomarkers in COPD<br/><br/><br/>- understanding food allergy<br/>
