Latin involves the study of the Latin language and literature, as well as the history and culture of the Romans.

Latin involves the study of the Latin language and literature, as well as the history and culture of the Romans. <br/><br/><strong>Why study this course at the University of Glasgow?</strong> <br/><br/>We have been teaching English Language and Linguistics for over 75 years and our staff are leaders in their fields. <br/><br/>We created the world-leading Historical Thesaurus of English, a unique resource charting the semantic development of the huge and varied vocabulary of English, and we have dedicated laboratories for analysing spoken and written language. <br/><br/>Septem You will have the opportunity to visit archaeological sites and museums in Italy as part of your programme. If you progress to Honours you will have the opportunity to spend up to three weeks (usually during the summer vacation after year 3) visiting archaeological sites and museums in Italy or another part of the ancient world. <br/><br/><strong>Career Prospects?</strong> <br/><br/>As a graduate in English Language & Linguistics you will be an expert in language, communication and the rigorous analysis of texts and events in the real world. You will have a broad range of career opportunities, drawing on your research skills and knowledge, as well as graduate attributes applicable to a variety of professional contexts Our graduates find jobs in traditional and new media, publishing, marketing, speech therapy and dictionary-making, and many of them teach English as a foreign language, often in Europe, Asia or South America. As a Latin graduate you will be able to enter many different careers, from the heritage/cultural sector and teaching to consultancy and financial services. Latin/Classics graduates also follow careers in fields such as publishing, law or accountancy; many decide to stay in academia and pursue postgraduate degrees. <br/><br/>Our recent graduates have been employed as: <br/><br/>experts in museums and galleries <br/><br/>librarians or archivists <br/><br/>teachers <br/><br/>civil servants <br/><br/>in IT/software development.
