Course description
Our LLM Corporate and Commercial Law is ideal if you wish to explore how contemporary challenges are addressed in the corporate and commercial legal fields. In this LLM, you’ll:
* Take your legal knowledge to the next level with a focus on corporate and commercial law.
* Shape your degree, tailoring your course to your interests and career goals, with the flexibility to choose optional modules from different LLM pathways.
* Have the opportunity to explore a range of legal topics that could cover from international law, trade, environmental and company law, to data privacy and criminal law.
You’ll study at a degree designed to give you expertise in the corporate and commercial legal fields, at one of the UK’s top universities for graduate prospects in Law (The Times UK University Rankings 2026).
The LLM Corporate and Commercial Law will equip you with the relevant skills and knowledge for careers such as corporate/commercial solicitor, in-house counsel, banking and finance or regulatory roles, corporate governance and more.
Alongside modules in specific areas of corporate and commercial law, we run a series of workshops on legal skills. Those workshops also introduce you to different methodologies and help you develop your critical skills and research expertise. In your second year, you’ll use these skills to write a dissertation with expert supervision from our staff.
You’ll graduate equipped with knowledge and critical thinking skills highly valued by employers, allowing you to evaluate, reflect on and critique the existing legal responses to contemporary challenges.
The LLM Corporate and Commercial Law is just one of the pathways offered on the Sheffield LLM. You can also choose to study the LLM International Law and Global Justice option.
If you’re not sure which specialist pathway you want to follow, don’t worry, you can take the Sheffield LLM without specialising, or opt to follow one of the pathways on arrival. The choice is yours.
