This includes biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, physiology and anatomy and their application to the development and pharmacology of acquired and inherited disease. To strengthen your understanding in these core areas and to provide context to your leaning, you will explore:<br/><br/>The mode of action of drugs used in the treatment of a wide range of conditions<br/>The concept of selective toxicity<br/>Approaches to modern drug discovery <br/>Emerging technologies in drug development<br/>The drug development pipeline <br/>The wider societal impact of pharmacology <br/><br/>During years two and three of your studies, you will have the opportunity to choose from optional modules that are aligned to your career goals or interests. <br/><br/>In your third year of study you will put the knowledge and skills you have developed into practice by completing an experimental research project. <br/>You will also present your findings at our final year research conference, where you will benefit from enhanced networking and employer engagement opportunities. <br/><br/>In your final year of study you will explore the principles and applications of cutting-edge research methodologies and techniques in the study of Pharmacology, Drug Development and the wider Biosciences to an advanced level. You will develop an advanced understanding of the processes involved in research dissemination and the acquisition of research funding and critically evaluate current literature and complex methodologies.
