Genetics is the study of the inherited differences between individuals. Genetics allows us to understand normal events such as development, growth and ageing in terms of the underlying molecular machinery of the cell and helps explain why these processes go wrong in disease. Genetics also provides us with tools to produce improved crops and livestock.

Genetics also provides us with tools to produce improved crops and livestock. <br/><br/>This degree programme aims to instil a broad base of knowledge regarding genetics at the molecular, cellular and organismal levels. Additionally, students will gain an in depth understanding of selected aspects of Genetics which will reflect the research expertise and strengths within the School, and will be instructed in the many applications of this subject.<br/><br/>**5 year MSci degree**<br/>This degree offers you the opportunity to undertake a years placement in an industrial, commercial or research environment and graduate after five years with an MSci (an undergraduate Masters degree) instead of a BSc. <br/><br/>**We are ranked 1st in the UK for Anatomy and Physiology in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.**
