The curriculum will incorporate regional case studies, shedding light on the specific challenges and opportunities faced by professionals in the sports, health, and coaching industry within the local context. Collaborations with regional sports organisations (e.g., Scunthorpe United, healthcare providers, and community groups) will provide students with real-world learning experiences and access to industry networks. By tailoring the programme to address regional needs, it aims to attract students from diverse backgrounds and equip them with the skills, knowledge and competencies necessary to tackle both regional and national challenges.

This course is particularly relevant to people already working in, or looking to develop a career within the Sport, Health and Coaching sectors, including sports coaches/practitioners who would like to strengthen their portfolio with an academic background.

This course provides a range of skills and competencies relevant across a variety of different professions. People who have completed this course have gone on to work in areas including teaching PE (primary, secondary and SEND school), practitioner work (such as strength and conditioning coaches, sports psychologists and performance analysts), as well as returning to higher education to lecture. Some of these opportunities have been developed from work experience provided on the course such as working with the Scunthorpe United FC team, working within schools/colleges and sports coaching companies.

If you wish to continue studying beyond this course, it will provide you with a strong academic basis to do so.
