Students will be taught to develop, analyse, programme, integrate and deploy complex engineering systems such as industrial manipulators, autonomous mobile robots/vehicles, biomedical systems for surgery and assistance, robots for extreme environments, wearables and virtual reality technology.

A major part of the degree is the individual research project, which will be based around the internationally-recognised research taking place in our School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS). Your project will be designed in collaboration with our academic staff and external organisations, such as Shadow Robot, Ocado, Google, Automata, Kuka, Q-Bot and many others. The project will develop your research capability, as well as your ability to create integrated robotics and intelligent systems that can operate in a range of dynamic environments.

During your project you’ll apply the theory from your taught modules, while taking advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities. You can expect to gain expertise in design, kinematics, dynamics, control, electronics, programming, signal and data processing, machine learning, and manufacturing technology.
