Attendance will be monitored, and you are expected to attend all sessions. Session content is organised to mirror the steps of completing a research project and to meet participants’ emerging needs in relation to introducing and designing the project, analysing data and writing up findings. The face-to-face sessions take place on three Saturdays. They are a key element of the course and provide opportunities for you to apply your learning, share your research and use these experiences to develop your projects. All the sessions support mid-project and pre-submission review. Ongoing supervisory support allocated by specialism is provided.

The induction session at the beginning of the programme of study sets out course expectations and introduces a timeline for your research project. You will also be introduced to ways of accessing and making optimum use of ICT and Learning Centre support and resources, as well as other sources of student support.

You will learn through:

- tutor-led seminars, workshops, participant-led activities, group and peer discussion, self-directed study, reading and reflection.

- digital resources including the Blackboard VLE which enables you to interact with module content covered and supports peer learning.

- resources and support offered by Student Learning Services, including the Learning Centre.

- work-based learning.

**Live projects**

You will be encouraged to establish an authoritative voice founded on a broad and deep knowledge base, drawing on theoretical and research literature, policy practice guidance and practitioner networks.

This theoretical knowledge will link to your own experience within your educational context. You will be encouraged to take a reflective, critical approach to your professional practice.

**Future careers**
The primary purpose of this course is to support the development of teachers as leaders of learning.
