By the time you finish your degree, you will be able to use maths to solve practical problems. Youll explore the relationship between mathematical modelling and economics. Youll also examine how societies attempt to make the best use of their scarce resources. <br/><br/>Advising on investment, production and prices are decisions that people might associate with economists, but they are increasingly asked to advise on:<br/><br/><br/>- policies to address climate change<br/><br/><br/>- policies to address inequality<br/><br/><br/>- policies to improve the National Health Service<br/><br/><br/>- many other issues including; marriage, religion, civil war, football hooliganism<br/><br/><br/>Our course focuses specifically on the macroeconomic challenges of national, regional and global economies together with the microeconomic behaviour of people and businesses. Combining these subjects will give you an excellent foundation for your career as an economist but also offers scope to pursue a diverse range of high-earning opportunities.<br/><br/>Our Investment Society organises annual speakers and employer workshops. You will also be able to join DUMaS (Dundee University Maths Society), an active society open to all students studying mathematics.
