In choosing to study Joint Honours French/Drama and Theatre at Aberystwyth University you’ll immerse yourself in a rigorous and challenging discipline combining both practical and theoretical elements. In Drama and Theatre you will look through and beyond historic and established forms to explore what drama, theatre and performance can be now and in the future. Combining your studies with French language will further enhance your employability. This course accommodates beginners and advanced French speakers, and involves spending a year abroad in France or another French-speaking country in your third year to encourage and further develop your linguistic skills. On this degree programme you’ll have the opportunity to encounter a wide range of critical and creative forms and practices and develop your capacity as an independent theatre-maker, thinker, scholar and linguist. The intellectual, practical and transferable skills acquired whilst studying French/Drama and Theatre will prepare you for a variety of careers within the creative arts, the public sector and beyond.
