Develop your understanding of robotic surgery and take the first steps toward developing your career in the field, with our online Masters degree.

During the course you’ll explore the ways in which robotics have been integrated into surgical practice, leading to reduced invasiveness, decreased blood loss, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, and improved patient outcomes. Looking specifically at gastrointestinal (upper and lower), urological and gynaecological surgery, you’ll also explore some of the cutting-edge strategies and techniques, as well as develop a theoretical understanding of how these can be applied in practice.

This is a distance learning course: you dont need to attend physical locations but, instead, participate in learning using a variety of online systems to engage with your lecturers and fellow students. However, it includes a compulsory module which you must attend in-person: Simulation in Year 2. The Simulation module is delivered in-person at the ICENI Centre in Colchester, Essex in the UK. This course cannot be completed without attendance in Colchester.

Both Year 1 and Year 2 feature a mix of compulsory and optional modules. In both years, you can choose an optional surgical module in the specialism of your choice. There are also two non-surgical optional modules available.

In Year 2, youll complete the compulsory Postgraduate Research Design module. Its designed to help you plan your Postgraduate Research Project, and to develop a robust understanding of how to interpret the research findings of others.

Although this course is not a replacement for formal surgical training and will not be sufficient to qualify graduates to practice, the MSc in Robotic Surgery (Simulation) offers a unique and comprehensive educational experience tailored to the needs of surgical professionals. By providing a multidisciplinary curriculum, opportunities for hands-on simulation training, esteemed faculty, industry collaborations, and a focus on research and innovation, it will equip clinicians with the knowledge necessary to harness the potential of robotic surgery.
