This module will enable students to understand the role of EEG in the management of adults and children. It covers two strands of neurophysiology practice<br/><br/><br/>- EEG on the intensive care unit<br/><br/><br/>- Paediatric EEG<br/><br/><br/>- Uses of Long-term EEG<br/><br/><br/>**Module outcomes**<br/><br/>**Knowledge and understanding**:<br/><br/><br/>- EEG on the intensive care unit: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiology and management of patients with altered mental status, and clinical uses of continuous EEG monitoring in intensive care units.<br/><br/><br/>- Paediatric EEG: Demonstrate the ability to critically appraise the pathophysiology, clinical presentation and electroencephalographic findings in paediatric epileptic syndromes and paediatric metabolic manifestations on the central nervous system.<br/><br/><br/>- Long-term EEG: Critically analyse the clinical applications of ambulatory recordings and video-telemetry in adult and childhood seizure disorders. Apply integrative understanding of normal and abnormal sleep and its assessment.<br/>
